Star-shaped zinc and birch

In january 2015, students from Tu and Kåsen, are getting a brand new school. 2500 m2 are almost ready to receive about 350 children. – Progress is according to the plan, says Odd Rune Røyland, bas on the project. - So this will be fine.

Jærmester have 17-18 people at work, on what will be the new Tu Skule. They do all the wood work, including windows and doors.

– Of the 55 men, who work on this project, it is almost only hired help, says Røyland. Several of them are from Fleksi Bemanning.

The school is built on farmland, in a slightly sloping landscape. Alliance Arkitekter have created the design. It is shaped like a star, where the different arms meet in an open area for vestibule, canteen and library. One wing is lowered a half floor, to account for the sloping terrain. This gives the possibility that amphitheater and stairs outside, can flow through the building and form an amphitheater also inside. To achieve good landscape adaptation and contact inside/outside. The school will be completed before Christmas and is ready to take on pupils 5. January 2015.

– It is an exciting building, with extensive use of maintenance-free materials. Lot of zinc and aluminum outdoor and birch veneer indoor. Waterborne heat in all floors and 50 cm insulation in walls and ceilings. With over two thousand square and educational prepared areas, with i.a. color codes for the various departments, this is going to be a great place to be for all the pupils who will spend their school day here, says Røyland with a smile.

It is projected for about 350 pupils from Tu and Kåsen elementary and middle school. Overall, 2500 m2 are being built, over two levels. Pupils will share the gym with various sports clubs, but they get both toboggan run and playground to romp on.
